Supporting our Troops through AMVETS. Bro. Paul Kleinberger, Community Service Chairman for Evening Star Lodge reports on our most recent efforts to support our troops overseas, who continue to be deployed in the Middle East. For those troops, the days are long and their work continues to be hard while the sources of diversion in their free time is very limited. Recognizing this, AMVETS with Evening Star Lodge following suit, combined with the generosity of the Latham Community began a DVD video drive to collect and ship as many previewed videos to forces in the Middle East so these soldiers can enjoy recently released movies. Following collection, the video's were forwarded to AMVETS who cleaned the DVD's and categorized them and prepared them for distribution to our troops. In the short time we had collect them, Evening Star Lodge was able to contribute 167 DVD's towards this effort. We are grateful for our caring commuity who helps us respond to those needs which we all feel are an important part of supporting our troops - many of whom from right from the Capital District.
